Are you excited for your 2022-2023 homeschool curriculum picks? Or are you still on the hunt for a certain subject or grade level? For homeschoolers all around the world, it is the most wonderful time of year! Are you like me and love researching and sourcing curriculum for your family? If so, read on for some ideas in the areas you may still be looking for. This school year, we will be entering 2nd grade, 5th grade, and 8th grade. Let’s get into it!
Homeschool Curriculum Planning
Before I jump into the actual 2022-2023 homeschool curriculum picks, I want to address some common questions. The homeschool planner I use is from Anna Vance Paper Co, and I will be using Layout 2B for the lesson plans. It is absolutely beautiful, customizable, and made by a fellow homeschooling family. Supporting small businesses, especially homeschooling small businesses, is important to me! Here is a link for details about my planner.
As I start gathering ideas for homeschool curriculum, I use an undated curriculum planning sheet to jot down ideas. It helps my brain to see it laid out on one sheet. This way, you can see if it could work, if it looks like too much/too little, and if you covered the bases.

5th Grade Curriculum Picks
- Bible: Meeting Jesus
- Math: I already had Horizons 5 from a while back, but it isn’t something I’m satisfied with. At the last minute, I added in Right Start Math Level E. I LOVE using RSM with my little one, and I found an affordable copy on eBay. I’ll keep you posted on how it is doing Right Start with 2 children – my guess is it will be a challenge, but I really want him to have a solid grasp on math concepts before middle school level. We’ll also see if we have time for Your Business Math: Pet Store from Simply Charlotte Mason. I am thinking we will save this for next summer as a light math practice.
- Language Arts: Lightning Literature, IEW SSS-2A Writing, IEW Fix It Grammar, and Spelling and Handwriting from A Reason For (use code Trisha20).
- Science: Sabbath Mood Homeschool Magnets and continuing on with Beautiful Feet History of Science
- History: A Gentle Feast – Cycle 4 readings
- Art: Kindly Kingdoms from Yellow Spot Sun to go along with our history time period.
- Music: Piano with Hoffman Academy

2022-2023 Homeschool Curriculum Notes
So that is what we plan to use for this upcoming school year. A few of this is new to us, but most of it has been working well for us for years!
This could look like a lot, especially with 3 children. However, we do not do all of this daily. We aim to finish table work by 1:30, with time to spare for free reading/playing, art projects, and hobbies. If anything is not working out well, we consider the factors at play, and see what adjustments make sense.
I’ll be sharing what we are planning to use for our family studies or Morning Time soon. Morning Time is actually my most favorite part of our homeschool because we get to learn together.
I wanted to say, even though you probably know, that whatever I’m using does not need to be what you use. This home education journey can be a difficult and a joyful one, often in the same day! Our family rhythms, beliefs, and individual preferences will vary, and that is perfect for this flexbility and variety that this lifestyle offers.
I pray you find something that inspires you personally, and awakens curiosity in the whole family. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out! I will be sharing our school year with this curriculum in stories on my Instagram, and hope to see you there.
